We all need to charge our batteries from time to time and none more so than the new Electric Bus from The Big Lemon 🙂
Here at Sussex Backup we believe that local businesses should contribute to the local community. This is why we’ve decided to partner with The Big Lemon bus company to support their innovative project to power their new electric buses using solar panels on their depot’s roof. These panels will produce clean electricity, which in turn will be stored in batteries for charging the buses overnight after they finished their day’s rounds.
We love public transport and use it regularly to commute to and from work and when we visit customers’ sites but even though public transport is more environmentally friendly than cars it still creates some pollution and in Brighton & Hove, where most of the buses pass through North Street and Western Road, the pollution level in the city centre is regularly higher than the legal limit. We want that changed!.
The Big Lemon, a Brighton based CIC (community Interest Company), are hoping to raise £25,000 for this project that will see 120 solar panels installed on their roof. They hope to achieve that by a combination of crowdfunding and a grant from M&S Energy Community Fund.
This is where you can get involved too – please vote for them to receive this funding as the grant will be given to the project that raises the highest number of votes from the public – please do it now as voting ends on the 10/10/2016. All you need to do is go to https://www.mandsenergyfund.com/projects/the-big-lemon-solar-bus-project and vote.
If you want to help them with the crowdfunding, that will be even better, as they still need to raise over £6000 (at the time of writing these lines)
Together we can make it easier to breath in Brighton & Hove with an advanced, cutting edge transport system owned by the community and who knows, you may find yourself catching a ride in one of those new buses very soon…
